How much does tumor or lump removal cost for a dog?
The most common case is also the cheapest: a simple lipoma (fatty lump) is published by CareCredit at $250–$700 to remove. Across tumor types, Spot's published table tops out at $2,100 for the deepest, most complicated removals — and every source agrees on the driver: not the tumor's name, but its size and how invasive it is.
| Removal cost by tumor type (Spot, citing published sources; CareCredit for lipoma) | Figure |
|---|---|
| Lipoma, non-infiltrative — CareCredit / Spot | $250–$700 |
| Lipoma, infiltrative — CareCredit / Spot | $1,000–$1,800 |
| Mast cell tumor — Spot | $450–$2,100 |
| Mammary tumor — Spot | $700–$1,800 |
| Eyelid tumor — Spot | $500–$1,200 |
What is not in those figures
CareCredit states it plainly: its lipoma figures do not include any diagnostic tests. Spot prices the surrounding stack at roughly $400–$500 on top of the core surgery — pre-surgery bloodwork, anesthesia and technician time, biopsy and lab work, take-home medications, E-collar and bandages — with follow-up visits extra. Diagnosis comes before removal in the sources' accounts: a fine needle aspiration first, a biopsy when the aspirate is inconclusive, sometimes a CT. And for malignant tumors the removal is not the whole bill: chemotherapy is published at $150–$600 per dose, with malignant-case totals able to reach $10,000 plus oncology consultations (Spot). This site publishes no prognosis or treatment guidance — which lumps warrant removal is your veterinarian's call, not ours.
