What is separate
Aftercare is a separate decision and a separate cost: cremation runs on its own published weight table (cremation guide), and CareCredit's study publishes pet cemetery burial at $659–$1,513 for dogs and $449–$1,031 for cats. WSJ's analysis adds a comparison worth knowing when you are quoted: private cremation runs 35% to 66% more than communal cremation. Nothing on this page speaks to when euthanasia is appropriate — that is a conversation between you and your veterinarian, and cost information is published here only so the financial side is one less unknown in a hard week.
The cremation guide reproduces CareCredit's full published weight table — communal and private, five tiers.
